An aircraft flying above a crowded California shoreline abruptly began spiraling uncontrollably, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a row of palm fronds as onlookers observed.
Recordings uploaded on social media depict the helicopter beginning to twirl near Huntington Beach then falling towards the edge of the coast, where it ends up lodged among palm trees and a staircase close to the coastal road.
Emergency responders reported five persons were transported to a medical facility including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” following the crash on that day.
Three individuals on the road were hurt. Specifics on their wounds were still under review.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
Officials indicated the aircraft was associated with an yearly “Cars with Copters” benefit occasion scheduled for the next day.
