Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started turning to tailored sessions created through the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but although many simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons available in the game.

Some of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and only works at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

But when tackling the tasks in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It is expected if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

For now, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
